Volunteer Project Coordinator, Bristol

Studio Upstairs is seeking a reliable and organised Project Coo-ordinator to assist with the development and production of an exhibition and supporting event/workshop programme in celebration of our 20th Anniversary since establishing the Bristol Studio. Studio Upstairs is an arts charity providing holistic support through providing access to artistic studios for people experiencing mental health difficulties or emotional distress. It is through attending Studio Upstairs that our members can develop a creative art practice in a supported environment, where the emphasis is placed on the development of an artistic identity.

This four months voluntary placement offers a fantastic opportunity for people interested in working in the field of Community Arts, Arts Therapy, Social Enterprise, Arts Events, Art Production and Project Management.

This is a varied role with great opportunities to gain an insight into a long-standing arts and health charity, helping the right candidate develop a wealth of experience and knowledge within the arts and charity sector.

The Project

Studio Upstairs Bristol celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and the team along with the members of the Studio are keen to mark the occasion with a weekend of activity, including a group exhibition, opening event, talks, workshops and more.

Tasks

  • Liaise with mangers, volunteers and members to ensure a service-user led project
  • Support with the design and development of the project
  • Marketing and promotion of the events, including social media, newspaper, radio, leaflets etc.
  • Organisation of install and delivery of exhibition and other programme activity
  • Evaluation of project

Desired Attributes

  • Some experience in planning and delivering projects or events
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An interest in arts and understanding how they can enhance health and wellbeing
  • Experience working with vulnerable people
  • Excellent computer skills including design software

Timeline

This is a focused piece of work to begin as soon as possible and completed by May 31st 2020.

Hours required are 20 per month to be spread across the month flexibly to suit both the volunteer and the Studio. One working weekend required.

Place of work is Studio Upstairs Bristol, Units 1&2, Albion Dockside Estate, Hanover Place, Bristol BS1 6UT.

Office Volunteer - Bristol

Main duties are to support the smooth running of the office. Tasks would include:

● Answering the phone, booking in appointments and visits
● Filing and updating databases
● Maintaining office equipment and art materials stock
● Marketing and updating social media to promote the studio, artwork sales & events
● Supporting team in organising events / exhibitions and promoting the charity

This is a great opportunity to work in a vibrant and creative atmosphere, whilst gaining further administrative skills and contributing to an established project, which is evolving and expanding.

Key Skills Required

  • Organised and accurate
  • Good general administrative skills
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel / Google equivalents
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • An interest in the arts and mental well-being

Six month’s minimum commitment expected

Studio Upstairs Trustee

Studio Upstairs is seeking to appoint new Trustees/Directors to our board. This is an unpaid voluntary role.

Studio Upstairs exists to transform lives through creative communities. We have branches in Bristol, Dalston and Croydon. In addition to the full board meetings, there may be occasional subcommittee meetings.

We are keen to hear from well-networked candidates with skills and experience in the areas of fundraising or commissioning of health services.

The Board Meetings are held four to six times a year in London.

Cover Studio Manager (Qualified Art Therapist)

Studio Upstairs is looking for Art Therapists who are interested to join our lists for occasional cover in London or Bristol.

The post holder will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide their own professional indemnity insurance.

Marketing and Outreach Volunteers

Studio Upstairs is currently looking for Marketing and Outreach volunteers to assist in the promotion of our income generating activities and strengthen our image and relationships with local people, businesses, organisations, current and potential members. The role is flexible and we are interested in hearing from candidates who can work on-site or from home.

Key Skills Required

  • Confident with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel and Photoshop and/or InDesign
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • An interest in the arts and mental well-being
  • Knowledge of the local area and its organisations and institutions would be an advantage

Workshop Volunteers/ Artists, London Studio

We are now accepting proposals for short-term workshops from artists. Please email your workshop proposal and CV to be considered for a session or taster session. We are looking for artists and art students who would be willing to volunteer to run art projects of their own design on various uses of art materials and techniques for up to four to six weeks at a time. In previous projects, we have done puppetry, graphic design, portrait painting, oil paint techniques.
