1st April 2016
We will explore the physical and emotional experience art materials have on the skin and what impact this might have on the artist, therapist and patient.
This workshop is suitable for those completing their MA training, and for those who have graduated. Participants will receive a CPD certificate.
The use of physical contact with wet and dry art materials will be the main part of the workshop with times slots allotted to explore the individual and groups experience. For this workshop we recommended reading The Experience of the Skin in Early Object Relations By ESTHER BICK.

The workshop will be run at Studio Upstairs, an arts studio and therapeutic community for artists with history of mental health. The workshop will be run by two art therapists from Studio Upstairs, Frances Lumbers and James Cowie, both of whom are HCPC registered. Frances also manages a mental health centre and supervises both art therapy students and trainee counsellors. James works as an art therapist in the NHS at inpatient and community settings and supervises art therapy students at the Studio Upstairs and the NHS.
Both continue their art practice at the Studio Upstairs.
