22 Feb – 12 Mar 2013: Pain(t) Exhibition
21st February 2013
STUDIO UPSTAIRS presents pain(t)
Pain(t) is a group exhibition from Studio Upstairs. The shows focuses on the painted interpretations of pain, be it physical or emotional. Each artists has responded to the brief in different ways. The feelings of pain can be a great source of power, empowering someone to overcome struggles. Or it can be a dead weight we carry inside holding us back feeding our insecurities.
Pain can transform us.
In this exhibition each artist has taken their pain and transformed it into a unique creative expression. Pain(t) is a powerful and thought provoking exhibition that carries visual impact and a dense layering of personal journeys.
As part of the exhibition sculptor Jane Clarke is working in collaboration with the Studio Upstairs performance group to present a piece of interactive theatre using Clarke’s 8 seater see-saw. The piece is a test of endurance and teamwork.
