Anthony Lawson – Abstract Creation
Imperfect shapes from the subconscious mind meeting colours from the conscious mind joining to form an abstract picture.
The art I produce has a process of using the subconscious mind to instruct the shapes while on a conscious level thinking about the choice of colour. When working on a picture my only thoughts are about colour, the mind is totally focused almost in a trance-like state. After a picture is finished I feel unsure with the result though in time I begin to accept the outcome and the picture appears to look different and take shape. I prefer to produce abstract work as it allows me to be spontaneous and free as I have had no formal training in art and only used oil and acrylic for the first time in 2008
