Venue Coordinator, South London 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Studio Upstairs team in an essential front-line role. The Venue Coordinator (Front of House) is based in the South London Studio Upstairs/Gallery and is acting as the main representative at that location.

They will coordinate the smooth running of the branch activities, and make sure gallery visitors, the Studio team and members have the best experience possible. They will provide information and guidance about the services and oversee the recruitment and management of volunteers.  

The successful applicant will be confident in working with people, with strong administrative background and have experience of working at events,  similar venues or in sales.

Hours: This is a full time position with some flexibility over the days of the week; some evening commitments would be required. The contracted hours will be confirmed at the time of the job offer.

Payment: 20-23K per annum depending on experience.

Mindfulness Workshop Facilitator, South London

Studio Upstairs s an established arts and health charity. We are looking to engage a group facilitator of weekly mindfulness sessions open to adults 18+.

The sessions will aim to help managing stress, self-care and improving resilience at work with mindfulness.

They will take place mid-day and (at a later date) evenings at 2-4 Park Street, CR0 1YE.

The facilitator will be expected to have:   

∙ An ongoing commitment to meditation practice

∙ Experience in successfully establishing and leading groups

∙ Ability to work with a wide variety of participants

∙ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

∙ Alignment with Studio Upstairs values and goals

Creative Writing Workshop Leader, South London

Studio Upstairs is looking to engage a facilitator to lead the Creative Journaling Workshops/ Group. This will be a closed group where the participants will be invited to develop a 12-week journal, documenting how they see the world through photography, creative writing and drawing.

The ideal instructor will have significant writing experience, as well as some art and photography skills, which they have the ability to teach. Most importantly, instructors should be supportive of participants work and encourage exploration, reflection, inspiration, connection and expression.  

The weekly sessions will take place at 2-4 Park Street, CR0 1YE.

Models for Art Classes Wanted, South London

Studio Upstairs is looking for models of all shapes and sizes (18+), both male and female to join our Model Directory. If you are interested, are accustomed to a range of poses and positions, and would like to build your experience within our creative studios, please send us your details including a snapshot and we will be in touch.

Person specification

∙ A calm and professional demeanour

∙ Able to hold a standing or sitting pose for at least 30 minutes, (sittings range from 1 to 2 hours, with breaks)

Comfortable modelling in front of groups ranging from 10-20 people max. Nude modelling is not an essential requirement, this could be for head portraits as well in everyday clothes.

The rate of pay for models is £10 to £15 per hour depending on experience and requirements. Work engagement is a subject to written agreement with the arrangements.

The Studio Space at 2-4 Park Street, CR0 1YE is a welcoming environment where people can work in a range of artistic media, alongside others in a safe, therapeutic setting.

Studio Upstairs is looking for Art Therapists who are interested to join our lists for occasional cover in London or Bristol.

The post holder will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide their own professional indemnity insurance.

Marketing and Outreach Volunteers

Studio Upstairs is currently looking for Marketing and Outreach volunteers to assist in the promotion of our income generating activities and strengthen our image and relationships with local people, businesses, organisations, current and potential members. The role is flexible and we are interested in hearing from candidates who can work on site or from home.

Key Skills Required

  • Confident with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel and Photoshop and/or InDesign
  • Strong communication communication skills, written and verbal
  • An interest in the arts and mental well-being
  • Knowledge of the local area and its organisations and institutions would be an advantage

We currently have vacancies in both the London and Bristol offices. In this role you will help us and gain experience in:

  • Marketing and PR
  • General office skills: answering the phones and responding to emails; monitoring stationary and art materials; maintaining a database of contacts; files and records management

Workshop Volunteers/ Artists, London Studio

We are now accepting proposals for short term workshops from artists. Please email your workshop proposal and CV to be considered for a session or taster session. We are looking for artists and art students who would be willing to volunteer to run art projects of their own design on various uses of art materials and techniques for up to four to six weeks at a time. In previous projects we have done puppetry, graphic design, portrait painting, oil paint techniques.
