Digital Art is all around us now, the canvas is everywhere, the Internet, television and in our various printed media. The digital image, the computer generated image in all its forms hangs on our walls, our magazines, our screens.
Studio Upstairs sees Digital Arts as another important art from: resourcing Studio members with the latest technology, providing key tools and resources to create, manipulate and publish digital art.
Members have access to state-of-the-art image editing software. Studio artists have tapped into the technology and resources provided to create computer generated images from a blank digital canvas, as well as using the technology to scan and adapt their own existing artwork.
People can use the Studio's digital camera, or their own, to capture their worlds and then transfer these effortlessly to the Studio PC for further "Imagineering". Work has been published to all forms of media including CD, DVD, and traditional print media via the photo quality colour printer. Just as easily the work can be published to the Internet for wider distribution.
Now the Studio and its members are imagining the next step for their digital adventure. Digital Video will open up new horizons and allow for further opportunities of collaboration and crossover between the Studio's various programmes and between art forms altogether. In this next stage people will have access to digital video equipment and cutting edge video editing software to bring all their talents and visions to their potential, to that place where the imagination meets the digital tools that Studio Upstairs provides, the "Digital Imagination".
