Various opportunities exist at different times for volunteers both in the studio as art assistants and in the studio office as administrative or fundraising assistants.
This is an opportunity to gain experience as part of the team and to contribute to the charity’s work.

Working as a volunteer/artist at Studio Upstairs has enabled me to be part of a diverse community of creative people in a highly functional studio environment that supports people in engaging with their own creative process.

Art Assistants
Working in the studio together with the members and the studio managers, art assistants are on hand for technical and aesthetic problem solving. You ideally need:
- A formal art training of some kind
- A commitment to making art
- A commitment of one day per week for a minimum of six months
- Therapeutic experience (personal or training) is an advantage
- To be available in the studio on whatever days you volunteer from 10.00 – 17.00 hours whilst the members are present and from 17.00-18.00 for team supervision at the end of the day
Administrative Assistants
If you have particular administrative skills (computer skills essential) which might be of help to a small charity – please contact us!
Fundraising Assistants
As a small independent charity, Studio Upstairs resources are severely stretched. We welcome volunteers willing to help with fundraising.

Studio Upstairs takes up the place between art and therapy and defends both positions.
