The main focus of the studio is drawing and painting. The environment is such that members with all levels of skill are encouraged to develop their work through ongoing exploration and experiment, and through a commitment to their work. There is no ‘house style’ except that of the individual’s own struggle with their work, the result of which is strong, fresh artwork that they can take a pride in and have a sense of achievement for. Studio artists are encouraged to have periodic reviews of their work in which they can see their development more clearly and the studio members are able to give their feedback.
Studio managers and volunteers support the membership with their creative process. Indeed, managers and volunteers also create work in the studio and all are encouraged to show their work, either in studio reviews, open studios or in the public gallery
